In short
- Yamsio has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation.
- We remove it, close the accounts involved, keep the evidence and report it to the authorities.
- Report it in the app, or write to support@volkstech.org. If a child is in immediate danger, call 999.
Our standard
Yamsio prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation of any kind, including:
- child sexual abuse material — any image, film, drawing or text that sexualises someone under 18, whether real or made by a computer;
- grooming: befriending a child in order to abuse or exploit them;
- sextortion: threatening to share intimate images of a child, or pressuring a child to send them;
- sexualising children in messages, comments, posts, diaries, pages or profiles;
- offering, selling or trafficking a child for sexual purposes;
- arranging to meet a child for sexual purposes.
This applies everywhere in Yamsio: chats, groups, calls, pages, posts, comments, diaries and guestbooks.
How Yamsio is built to protect children
- Yamsio is for people aged 16 and over.
- Nobody can find you. There is no directory, no search for strangers and no phone-book matching: someone can message you only after you have met and one of you has scanned the other’s code.
- Anyone can be blocked at once, and blocking ends the connection.
- A person’s posts and diaries are seen only by their kens.
- Reports about a child’s safety go to the front of our queue.
How to report
In the app. Report the message, person, post or other item, and choose the reason about a child’s safety. Your phone sends us what you report, so we can act on it even though chats are encrypted.
By email. Write to support@volkstech.org. Tell us what you saw, the person’s username if you know it, and when. Do not send us sexual images of a child, even to report them: describe them instead.
In an emergency. If a child is in immediate danger, call the police on 999. In Malaysia, you can also call Talian Kasih on 15999.
You can also report child sexual abuse material to the NCMEC CyberTipline or the Internet Watch Foundation.
What we do
- We review reports about a child’s safety before any other.
- We remove the content and close the accounts involved. Someone whose account was closed for this may not come back.
- We keep the evidence securely for a year, and longer while the authorities need it.
- We report to the Royal Malaysia Police and, where it applies, to NCMEC and other authorities.
- We cooperate with lawful requests from law enforcement.
We never tell the person reported who reported them.
The law we follow
We comply with the child safety laws that apply to us, including Malaysia’s Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 and the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
